As expected George Vidovic was a huge success drawing the majority of the MCOC members to the Manningham Hotel to hear his story last month. George is still enjoying the same dream he had from watching the two AC Cobra’s in the American Cult move called The Gumball Rally back in 1979 which led him travel to the US a year later when he was 21 and purchased the beginning of the Python brand.
Building his first car in the backyard garage in East Brighton under the GMV Garages banner he completed the first Python SR which was displayed at the International Motor Show in Sydney in 1982, effectively launching the Python brand in Australia.
As George says the early years of Python were years of self-discovery and constant research and development. These changes saw a journey from East Brighton to a number of locations eventually ending up at the well known South Melbourne premises in 1996.
Construction styles changed from steel box section ladder frame chases utilising sonar suspension components, to a newly designed tube chases incorporation Python suspension designs.
George built 102 Python AC Cobra’s and each car was a personal journey with each owner personalising their cars. None more so than the white and blue striped Cobra for Michael Schumacher already featured on the site. It’s a R series Mustang 4.6 litre, quad cam V8 with a Kenne Bell twin-screw supercharger producing 550 horse power at the rear wheels!
Another example was the Sidchrome give away car AC Cobra powered by a Coyote 5 litre car featured in Street Machine in March 2017. 
After getting a CAMS license in 1997 George went to race at Phillip Island , blew the motor, then to Winton and got best and fairest as a rookie and then established the Python Racing team which worked well with the Python development.
In 2007 George and his partner Maggie moved part time to the US and have raced many of the US tracks in his Python Cobra (see pictures below) and his McLaren. He found a much easier racing scene in the US.
George sold Python Vehicles Australia in 2017 to enjoying racing, travel etc.
They live between Melbourne and the US, still enjoying the dream, racing cars, riding motorbikes, (he established Python Choppers in 2005 one of the top custom shops in Australia), flying planes and shooting. You can still see the kid in George 45 years are commencing his dream. Good luck to him.
His lifestyle now is the envy of many in the room and it was a pleasure hearing his story.
